Raptor Maintenance Platform (RMP) is a device that can be deployed on the booster 7

side of a vehicle to provide personnel access to the boosters during launch operations

The RMP can be used by maintenance workers to perform inspections or repairs,

or by astronauts to access equipment and supplies located in the payload bay.

The first RMP was deployed on Space Shuttle Endeavour in September 1993, during mission STS-63.

In order to deploy an RMP, a technician must first remove a cover plate from the upper end of the booster stack.
